COVID-19/Coronavirus (Winter lockdown) update

Pinner & Harrow Mobile Osteopaths will be remaining open for face to face consultations during the Winter lockdown to support the NHS and local community. Osteopaths are specifically provided for under the new legislation, drafted for the Winter lockdown, as being able to remain open (see page 31 of the act). The Institute of Osteopathy has advised that this also includes for domiciliary (home) care.

Please note that the practice will not treat patients with symptoms of COVID-19/people who are self isolating due to having had a positive test for COVID-19.

As always, Pinner & Harrow Mobile Osteopaths will be employing a rigorous infection control regime (main points listed below) as required and advised by Public Health England, the General Ostopathic Council, and the Institute of Osteopathy.

-as required by the professional bodies as well as Track and Trace, single use face mask, apron, and, for examination and treatment, gloves, will be worn by the osteopath. Patients, and anyone else present, will need to wear a face mask

-all common points of contact outside and inside the car are cleaned with hot soapy water before the first patient of the day

-hands and forearms up to, and including, elbows are washed before and after consultation/treatment. Soap and towel (clean for each patient), will be provided by the osteopath

-plastic couch covers and wipeable down pillows are used which are washed/cleaned with hot soapy water between each patient. Bags used to carry these which are reused are also washed, otherwise they are new for each patient

-the treatment couch is cleaned between each patient, as are car keys, clipboard, and any pens used

-it would also be useful if the patient could air the room used for 30 minutes before and after treatment

Please note that the extra cleaning required between patients, including the need to return home between patients, during the pandemic means that extra time is required between patients which affects flexibility in offering appointment times.

Some people are more at risk of severe complications after contracting COVID-19 than others. When calling to arrange an appointment this can be discussed. Please mention if you (or the person you are calling about) have conditions on the clinically extremely venerable list. Some people are also considered more clinically venerable than others, such as those over the age of 60, and/or having conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD, bronchitis, emphysema, heart disease, taking medication which can effect the immune system (e.g. steroids), or with high body mass index.

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 you should self isolate and order a coronavirus test. If you are worried about your symptoms, or are not sure what to do, you should contact the NHS 111 service. More detailed information, including using the NHS 111 online coronavirus service, please see the NHS website

The main symptoms of COVID-19 are-

-a high temperature

-a new continuous cough

-a loss or change in your sense of taste or smell

Why chose Pinner and Harrow Mobile Osteopaths?

  • 10 years experience
  • treatment on your first appointment
  • friendly, effective, professional care
  • you are unable to leave home due to pain, immobility, looking after children, or other reasons
  • parking is difficult at your local osteopaths
  • you are unable to book an appointment with a local osteopath
  • you prefer to be treated in your own home
  • flexible appointment times, usually available within 24-48 hours of your call (may also be available Sundays and bank holidays)
  • long (45 minute) subsequent appointment times, allowing more time for treatment and advice to be given to patients, so aiming to reduce the amount and/or frequency of treatments
  • if appropriate, ergonomic advice based on your home environment (e.g. computer set up) can be more effectively provided during home visits

Many patients without chronic or long term issues require a maximum of 3-4 treatments in combination with ergonomic, postural, and other appropriate advice and exercise.

"He (Daniel) takes a full history and then tailors his treatments to both your requirements and age. My goal was to improve my mobility and he has certainly helped me with that" (Patricia R)
